Here's another view of Amoy Street taken from the movie Saint Jack compared to one I took from around the same spot last year:
In both photos, you could see International Plaza in the background on the left and MND Complex on the right. Notice the roadsweeper sweeping the road in the old photo with a broom called "sapu lidi" in Malay. It is made from coconut leaves. Such roadsweepers are rarely seen on Singapore roads nowadays.
The modern photo was taken near Far East Square from the location and direction indicated by the green arrow in the following map:

So is the movie still banned in Singapore?
There is a Teochew Restaurant called "Beng Hiang" along Amoy Street. Bright red doors. You can't miss it. Authentic Teochew dishes. Crowded especially at weekends and advance reservations for dinner time recommended.
LKK, according to this Wikipedia link, the ban was lifted only in Mar 2006 and the film is now M18-rated.
I borrowed the DVD from a fellow FOYer friend. I think he might have bought it from a neighbouring country. Don't know if the DVD is available here.
OG, thanks for the info about Beng Hiang. I think I've eating there before. The other famous restaurant there is Beng Thin in OCBC Centre as mentioned by Peter in the earlier related post.
Great find...the point of angle in both the photos were exactly same!

Why is Victor called GD? GNE sounds interesting. Can I be GNC?
Icemoon, GD-GNE is 乾爹/乾女兒 (don't know if the writing is correct). I can certainly accept you as 乾兒子 or GHZ. Interested? Hehe.
