Driver Thinking Of Sex Rather Than Signals

I read an amusing article in the Straits Times today. It was entitled "UK drivers think of sex rather than signals". I quote part of the article below:

LONDON - Over a million motorists think about sex rather than the road ahead and millions more who don't indulge in intimate thoughts are worrying about work or thinking about their families.

Research from car insurer More Than published on Thursday found one in five drivers admit to concentrating behind the wheel less than 75 percent of the time, with 1.2 million thinking mostly about sex.

And sex wasn't the only non-traffic thoughts motorists have.

For 3.2 million drivers work was the main focus and for 2 million more it was family issues that dominated.

'Unsafe habits can be unlearned just as easily as they can be learned, but first, drivers must recognise the risk they face by not concentrating on their driving,' said Ms Lisa Dorn, director of Driver Research at Cranfield University of the findings.
This article could well be talking about Chris. I don't know what was on his mind when he mistaken my right signal for a left one and turned into the wrong road that day.

But some Sporeans look at bbq pit and condos also can think of sex - even tho they are not obsessed with sex.

Not only that, some people buy car also think of SEX, opting for the number 69 prefixed by SEX.

But let's come back to your post. I just can't figure why people can think of sex while on the road. Maybe only in UK. Definitely not in Singapore. How else do u explain the low birthrate? For me, I can't think of SEX if I'm busy tring to figure out where the driver in front of me is leading me to LOL.

I worry for you Victor. You're not just SEX obssessed. You're becoming SEX-CRAZED.

And such a patriot. First one to buy the Spore encyclopaedia just to read about one of our fellow citizen's proud achievement in page 119.

Most of the motorists in the survey must be males. I think thinking while driving is quite ok if you don't dream, fall asleep or fiddle with things.

Hi Chris, thinking about it doesn't necessary lead to doing...so birthrate low..

干爹, i got one question to ask.. it is totally unrelated to your blog oops..

my dad is having birthday next week, and i would like to book a restaurant for 3 pax.. hmm excluding my sis... do u have any suggestions? because i know you and uncle chris always go makanz hahah.. if uncle lam is seeing this too, any suggestions? :D

Such a filial daughter. Don't go and churi mangoes ok.

The last few times I recommended makan places, kena condemned by my brothers .. so better not.

Anyway, not sure your 干爹 can do better .. oops .. after all he always boasts that his forte is in another dept.

Also better ask your 干爹 not to subscribe to M1. Afterward, the Scenic get all misted up; then lead his colleague to the wrong highway or worse.

Chris Sim said...

Chun See, with the current haze coming from our neighbour, who needs M1 to get all MISTY? No worries, I'm in safe hand... Victor, btw, is a Singtel subscriber.

Right, Victor?

Yes to all your questions.

Elaine - you may want to try the restaurant at Prima Tower where Chris celebrated his 42nd birthday last week. For lunch, they have set meals for 2, 4 and 6 persons(can't remember seeing for 3 persons, so you should ask your sister to go along). They also have dian xin for lunch. Don't know whether they have set dinners or not. Prices are reasonable. Citibank visa card got 10% discount.

The other place that's got quite good dian xian which I tried recently is at Harbour City Restaurant at PSA Towers (Alexandra Road). Prices are also reasonable.

I know, Evan. But she's still family mah. Should try to patch up. As they say, 家和万事兴. Her parents may not say or show it. But I believe that they would very much want it that way too. Ask the wise man Chun See about his opinion on this.

by the way, u say SHOULD patch up. there's no such thing as should or shouldnt. if there's so many 'shoulds', then govt should subsidise us more, children should not leave their terminally ill in hospices, husbands should be romantic at all times, buying chocolates and flowers at least once a week to suprise gf/wife, daughter/son-in-laws should stay wif their mum in law etc.

what i'm trying to say is, talk is cheap. its easier said than done. of coz, you're not wrong to talk abt 家和万事兴 n everything but are u in her shoes? everyone has their own set of family probs, its simply too easy to just tell ppl what to do. if its really so easy to patch up, then i think such a smart girl like elaine would hv done it 5 or even 10 years ago. and also, alot of things take two hands to clap.

I think the Ang mohs always think of sex, whereas we are always thinking of making money for survival....
Elaine, best wishes to your dad on his birthday. Hope you all have a great time. Cheers!!!

Chuck! How could you make such a politically incorrect statement! Conventional wisdom would tell you not to generalise. Victor is NOT an angmoh, but look at him, his recent posts have been nothing but SEX, SEX and SEX. If this is not an obsession, I don't know what is. LOL.

Haha.. I dun think Victor is obsessed with Sex as I am obsessed with fruits... Just that I think we both love to talk about the subjects we are interested in...

Victor said...

Chuck, that's the fairest comment I've heard in a long time. Even fairer than the fairest dame I've met in recent years.

Lam Chun See said...

In other words, Chuck is saying Nato.

Anonymous said...

Interested in means more than just talk, you find out more abt it...so Victor could be very knowledgeable in that area.

Victor said...

Chun See, talking about NATO (no action talk only), how come nowadays I don't get any auto email notification whenever you comment on my post? I am still getting auto email notification for all others who post comments here. I noticed that this has happened for the past month or two already. How come you are always so different from the rest?

Lam Chun See said...

Good question Victor. Answer .. I don't know. Pls educate me when you find out.

Nato for Sex... but never NATO when comes to fruits..
